Brooskie Way 2022 Spring 5K presented by Vibe Credit Union. Saturday, May 21st, at Rochester Municpal Park

ROCHESTER, MI – This weekend, Saturday, May 21st, 2022, will be the last branded "Brooksie Way" event.

In 2008, Oakland County Executive, L. Brooks Patterson, initiated the inaugural Brooksie Way Half-Marathon. The Brooksie Way was named after L. Brooks son, Brooks Stuart Patterson, who died in a snowmobile accident in 2007.

To successfully launch the event, L. Brooks tapped Deb Flynn as Race Director. Deb quickly built the event into one of the most successful walk/run events in the State of Michigan, with thousands of particpants and fans flocking to the annual run.

This Saturday will mark the end of Deb Flynn's 15-year tenure as the Brooksie Way's only Race Director.

In August of 2019, L. Brooks Patterson passed away, while still in office as Oakland County Executive. The current Oakland County team has made a decision to drop the "Brooksie Way" event and thus this Saturday's Race will be the last race managed by The Brooksie Way Foundation. Though Oakland County is ending the Brooksie Way, a third party may consider resurrecting the brand/event in the future.
