Rochester Grangers vs Flint Lumber City

Come out and enjoy classic Rochester Grangers Vintage Base Ball Matches. The Rochester Grangers existed as a base ball club as early as 1871. Vintage base ball is played representing a time period when gentlemen played for leisure and not for competition. You will not see any spitting, sliding, or wagering at these matches!

Home matches are played at the Museum and guests should bring their own chairs or blankets, cool drinks, and sun protection. Come cool off in Stoney Creek with these hands on activity kits! While you splash around, you can use nets, magnifying glasses, bug boxes, and more to learn about the critters that call the creek home. Staff will be on site near the creek with available supplies. Limited kits available on a first come, first serve basis. Thursdays in June/July/August, from June 23 to August 11. Donations welcome.











Event: Museum at the Farmers Market! Downtown Walking Tour

Date: Saturday, July 2

Time: 10am to 11am

Location: Meet at the Downtown Rochester Farmer’s Market, 202 E. 3rd St.

Join Museum staff at the Rochester Farmer’s Market! Buy some fresh food and then hit the streets to learn some fascinating facts to share at dinner with family and friends. Where is the oldest building on Main Street? Where were the first hotels? Who dressed up as President Taft to market his business? When did the telephone come to town? Where were all the churches? On this tour we’ll explore our downtown exhibit signs and sift through historical photos and stories while walking about a half mile.











Event: Wet and Wild Wednesdays

Every Wednesday in July, slide over to the Museum for some summer fun! You’ll find entertainment starting at 12 noon and water fun starts at 1pm with two huge slip and slides, a Rochester Hills Fire Truck, cool sprinklers for little kids, wading in Stoney Creek and water activities sponsored by the Clinton River Watershed Council. Rochester Public Library Book mobile will be on site, and you can learn more about Michigan’s animals and plants with the City of Rochester Hills Outdoor Engagement team.

You’re invited! Join Rochester Garden Club members in the Children’s Garden for a joyous morning exploring flowers, herbs, and decor. Master Gardeners will be on site to answer general gardening questions, and Members will be available to answer questions about the Children’s Garden specifically. Mt. Avon Cemetery Tour

Platted in 1826, this land embraces the souls of settlers! Here you will find gravestones for our community’s earliest leaders, soldiers, poets, and philanthropists. We will examine the beautiful artwork of headstones and divulge the forgotten lives and stories of the past. Meet at the Billy Yank Civil War Statue. The cemetery is bounded by 1st and 3rd street, at 200 Wilcox St.











Tea in the Farmhouse: Van Hoosen Historic Gardens & Landscape

Cost: $20/Non-Member; $15/Museum Member - Register by Monday, 5pm

We’re opening the doors of the farmhouse to host an afternoon, or low tea hour. Each session will explore a new aspect of family history and world travels. Guests get the chance to interact with artifacts and documents normally stored safely away in the collections room, while enjoying the ambiance of the 1840s Van Hoosen farmhouse. This unique opportunity is limited to 12 people. Tea and light snack will be served.

The Van Hoosen ladies found peace and joy within nature. It’s no wonder their yard and grounds were full of blossoming flowers and were a welcomed haven for local clubs and organizations. Join us to learn about how the family fostered a gardening community, as well as some of the family gardens.











Downtown Rochester Bike Tour
