Support Small, Shop Local and Win BIG after Thanksgiving!

ROCHESTER, MI, November 1, 2022 - Join the merchants of Downtown Rochester for a two-day shopping event after Thanksgiving! This year Downtown Rochester is celebrating Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday to encourage patrons to shop small and give big this holiday season. Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday are days dedicated to strengthening the community by supporting local small businesses.

Plaid Friday takes place November 25, shoppers are encouraged to wear plaid and head to Downtown Rochester for a fun day of shopping! Plaid Friday celebrates the diversity and creativity of local and independent businesses. It is a fun alternative to the consumer frenzy of ‘Black Friday’. Shoppers can enjoy store discounts, promotions, and giveaways with the Downtown Merchants. Visit the DDA Plaid Friday Website for a full list of participating businesses and promotions. Now in its 13th year, Small Business Saturday serves as the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season for small businesses across the United States. Shoppers can once again enjoy discounts and promotions in Downtown Rochester, for a full list of promotions, visit the DDA Small Business Saturday Website.

Once again, the Rochester Downtown Development Authority is giving away a $500 Downtown Rochester shopping spree. Shoppers will need to text SHOPSMALL to 866-603-4005 and then will be prompted to text a picture of their receipt from a purchase made at a Downtown Rochester business on November 25 or 26. The winner will be selected and contacted on Thursday, December 1.

In addition to Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday, The Big, Bright Light Show will be aglow starting the middle of November – January 21. The light show will run nightly from 5:00 pm until Midnight. Make sure to also check out the holiday window displays in town from November 14 - 20.
