Police Arrest 22 Year-Old Drunk Driver Who Runs Stop Sign!

Rochester, MI - February 18, 2023 - At 2:06am, Rochester officer was performing selective enforcement at the intersection of Walnut and Third for stop sign violators. Officer observed a Dodge leave Lot 4 and proceed North on Walnut. The Dodge never stopped for the stop sign at Walnut and Third and continued North on Walnut.

At Walnut, just north of Fourth, Officer observed the Dodge swerve to the left, causing the front and rear driver side tires to exit the lane it was traveling in. Officer performed a traffic stop on the vehicle on university, near Wilcox and made contact with the driver, identified as a 22 year-old from Auburn Hills. While speaking with the driver, Officer noticed an odor of intoxicants coming from the interior of the car. Officer asked him to perform sobriety tasks. The driver failed them and was asked to take a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test). The result was .14%. He was arrested for the offense of OWI (Operating While Intoxicated), taken to the Rochester Police Department where he was given a breathalyzer. That result was, .15 BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration). The driver was booked and held until sober and given a ticket for OWI.
